Legal action against Seoul pastor after three hundred other people tested positive for Covid-19

PanARMENIAN. Net – The South Korean government is suing church pastor Sarang Jeil in Seoul after 315 other people connected to the parish tested positive for Covid-19, CNN reports.

A criminal complaint filed sunday (August 16) opposed the head of the church, the Reverend Jun Kwang-hoon, accusing him of organizing demonstrations in violation of the city’s Infectious Diseases Prevention Act.

Of the other 4,066 people known through the government who visited the church recently, 1,045 may simply not be contacted: 550 had no indexed addresses and 495 did not answer their phones, the city government said. The others are awaiting examination.

The Seoul government says that the 7,560 churches in South Korea’s capital are prohibited from holding meetings because of the pandemic, unless they are for the same weekly services as always, that the faithful will have to adhere to social estating regulations.

At a press conference on Monday, the legal team at Sarang Jeil’s church denied accusations of irregularities opposed to the church and Reverend Jun. Church said they had fully cooperated with the government and would sue the government for defamation.
