Laval adds 2 new COVID-19 centers to meet increased demand

The city of Laval will load two new coronavirus detection centers to accommodate the influx of other people detected in the area.

On Thursday, one of the two most opened sites in Chomedey district.

Located at 1200 Chomedey Boulevard, the new appointment center welcomed its first patients.

People covered outdoors waiting to be screened for COVID-1nine from nine a. m.

The site, on Cartier Boulevard, will be operational from 10 a. m. Friday.

The new sites have been added to increase the number of others at North Shore detection centers.

Laval Regional Public Health says she has noticed a dramatic increase in the number of others examined.

“The numbers have doubled in the last 3 days,” said Judith Goudreau, ciSSS representative in Laval.

Pierre Creamer’s municipal driver screening clinic was filled with people last week.

The tail was meandering around the building. People reported that waiting times vary from one hour to three hours in some cases.

Several others told Global News that they were rejected Wednesday night.

Tim Lamb, a resident of Laval, said he and his circle of relatives were ordered to return Thursday morning because the clinic was not going to succeed in them before the final hour.

“Fortunately, we were waiting in the car. It would have been on foot,” Lamb said.

Laval’s territory has recently been classified as “yellow” or on alert, according to the Quebec government’s recent maximum classification system.

Currently, Laval Public Health is investigating 3 schools where they have reported a small outbreak of COVID-19 and at least one case has been reported in 20 other schools.

Goudreau says the new sites will be ready and that the opening hours will be extended to every degree to suit the influx of people.
