The mortality rate decreased in patients over 65 years of age. Researchers also found that young people of all ages were inflamed and transmitted the virus to others.

With 1. 3 billion more people fighting for space, India has been a welcoming environment for infectious diseases of all kinds, and coronavirus is no exception: the country now has more than six million cases, behind only the United States.
An ambitious analysis of some 85,000 of these cases and some 600,000 of their contacts, published Wednesday in the journal Science, provides data not only for India, but also for other low- and middle-income countries.
Among the surprises: the average hospital stay before the death of Covid-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, was five days in India, compared to two weeks in the United States, perhaps due to limited access to quality care. increasing deaths with age turns out to minimize after age 65, perhaps because Indians who live beyond that age tend to be rich and have access to smart fitness care.
Touch studies also revealed that young people of all ages can become inflamed with coronavirus and pass it on to others, providing compelling evidence on one of the most debatable problems about the virus.
And the report confirmed, as other studies have done, that a small number of other people are guilty of sowing a large majority of new infections.
An overwhelming majority of international coronavirus cases have occurred in low-income countries, noted Joseph Lewnard, epidemiologist at the University of California, Berkeley, who led the study, but most of the knowledge comes from high-income countries.
“I am still surprised that it has been necessary so far for a low- and middle-income country to have a lot of knowledge about Covid’s epidemiology,” he said.
In particular, he added, few studies have conducted tactile studies at the level.
“I think those are some of the ultimate vital knowledge we gather in an epidemic about what types of interactions are safe and which aren’t,” he said. And yet, “knowledge like this has not actually been published. “
Although its overall total of instances are huge, the number of instances consistent with the reported capita in India – and in many other low-income countries, adding Africa – is lower than that of Spain, France or even the United States. it has not yet exceeded 100,000, which has surprised some scientists.
India “is a position where a disease like this would be expected to spread, at least in larger populations,” dr. Krutika Kuppalli, infectious disease specialist at South Carolina Medical University. “They haven’t noticed it as much as you expected. “
