Twenty-four new COVID-19 cases were confirmed Sunday in La Salle County, increasing the number of active cases to 448 countywide.
Five individuals who previously tested positive for COVID-19 were released from isolation, moving that number to 295 since the beginning of the pandemic.
There have been 767 cases in La Salle County since the beginning of the pandemic and 24 deaths from complications related to COVID-19.
There have been 16,731 tests taken among county residents and 4.6% of those tests have come back positive for COVID-19.
The new cases are a boy younger than 13, a teenage boy, three teenage girls, three men in their 20s, five women in their 20s, a woman in her 30s, a man in his 40s, a woman in her 40s, two women in their 50s, a man in his 60s, a man in his 70s, two women in their 70s, a man in his 80s and a woman in her 80s.
Since Saturday’s report, the Illinois Department of Public Health’s ZIP code data has been updated as follows (these numbers may be reported with a lag):
• Ottawa had 10 more cases, increasing its total to 116 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
• La Salle had eight more cases, increasing its total to 64 cases.
• Streator had seven more cases, increasing its total to 112 cases.
• Mendota had two more cases, increasing its total to 165 cases.
• Oglesby had an additional case, increasing its total to 33 cases.
• Somonauk had an additional case, increasing its total to 26 cases.
• Utica had an additional case, increasing its total to seven cases.
• Marseilles remains at 58 cases.
• Peru remains at 46 cases.
• Sheridan remains at 33 cases.
• Earlville remains at 18 cases.
• Seneca remains at 15 cases.
• Grand Ridge remains at 14 cases.
• Leland remains at 10 cases.
County health officials are asking residents to take the recommended precautions seriously and take the increase in cases into account when considering whether to attend social events. Face covering and social distancing are the best preventative measures people can take at this time, officials said.
Drive-thru COVID-19 testing is available 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays at the La Salle County Emergency Management Agency at 711 E. Etna Road, Ottawa. This testing site is open to all regardless of symptoms. Individuals are required to schedule an appointment by calling 815-433-3366 before arriving on site.
