La Salle County coronavirus update: 22 new cases, 1 death

One day after recording your one-time day overall: 22 new coVID-19 cases were shown Tuesday among residents of La Salle County, as well as the county’s 21st death from complications related to the virus.

A La Salle County man in his 90s was the county’s third death from complications related to COVID-19 this week. Two other deaths, a man and a woman both in their 80s, who were confirmed to be part of a COVID-19 outbreak at Heritage Health Mendota, were announced Monday.

Two boys younger than 13, a girl younger than 13, a teenage boy, a teenage girl, two men in their 20s, three women in their 20s, three women in their 30s, three women in their 40s, three men in their 50s, a woman in her 50s, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 60s each tested positive for COVID-19.

With Tuesday’s announcement, there are 292 active cases in La Salle County. There have been 579 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic. There were seven individuals who previously tested positive released from isolation Tuesday, increasing the total number of individuals released from isolation to 266.

On Monday, La Salle County registered 47 new instances of COVID-19, adding 26 new instances in the Mendota zip code domain alone. On Tuesday, 3 new instances were reported among Mendota residents, with a total of 109 instances of 1,074 tests since the start of the pandemic.

According to the knowledge of the IDPH zip code (the figures can be changed in a few days), from Monday’s report:

Streator recorded seven other instances shown, bringing the total to 69 instances of 2,286 tests since the start of the pandemic.

La Salle had five instances, with a total of 43 instances of 1,515 tests.

• Marseilles had an additional case, increasing its total to 54 cases out of 1,243 tests.

Oglesby had another case, taking his total to 26 instances of 443 tests.

• Grand Ridge had an additional case, increasing its total to 11 cases out of 150 tests.

Ottawa remains in instances of 3,557 tests.

• Peru remains at 42 cases out of 1,142 tests.

Sheridan remains in 32 (including 20 inmates at Sheridan Correctional Center) of 439 tests.

• Somonauk remains at 21 cases out of 574 tests.

Earlville remains in 17 of 324 tests.

Seneca remains in thirteen instances of 264 tests.

• Leland remains at 10 cases out of 218 tests.

Utica remains in six of 177 tests.

No other zip code in La Salle County has recorded six or more cases shown as of Tuesday.

There have been 14,803 coronavirus tests taken by La Salle County residents, which is 179 more than was reported Monday. The percentage of tests that have come back positive since the beginng of the pandemic is 3.9%.

County fitness officials are asking citizens to take precautions seriously and to consider accumulation at times when considering attending social events. Tackling policies and social estrangement are the most productive preventive measures that other people can take at this time.

Drive-thru COVID-19 testing is available 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays at the La Salle County Emergency Management Agency at 711 E. Etna Road, Ottawa. This testing site is open to all regardless of symptoms. Individuals are required to schedule an appointment by calling 815-433-3366 before arriving on site.
