Kuwaiti lender Alafco delays Airbus orders

DUBAI (Reuters) – Kuwaiti aircraft leasing company Alafco said Wednesday that it had reached an agreement with Airbus (AIR.PA) to delay delivery of the ordered aircraft to the aircraft manufacturer.

Aviation was one of the industries most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and airlines around the world expect years to pass before travel returns to pre-pandemic levels.

The landlord did not specify the number of aircraft affected by the agreement, according to airbus’s website, it has lately 43 A320neo and 10 A321neo aircraft to be delivered.

Under the agreement, advance invoices that will be made within the next 3 years will expire from 2024, Alafco said in an inventory exchange file.

Airbus did not respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
