Kuwaiti-Armenian philanthropist Geragos Kuyumjian launches a store in Armenia | ARMENPRESS Armenian News Agency

EREVAN, JULY 26, ARMENPRESS. Kuwaiti-Armenian philanthropist and businessman Geragos Kuyumjian is back in Armenia and is selling his Buy in Armenia campaign, a task to inspire incoming diaspora travelers to shop here. The task was presented in 2019, but the paintings were left unfinished due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The essence of this crusade is to inspire our compatriots to buy the products they want here in Armenia. Why do we have to bring products if there is everything here?” said Kuyumjian.

He believes this crusade would be economical for local businesses and manufacturers if Armenians in the diaspora began to make the most of their grocery shopping in Armenia with each visit.

Ms. Kuyumjian said his initiative had won the backlash of government officials in the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs and the Tourism Committee.

Apart from this campaign, Kuyumjian is actively running to publicize Armenia in the Arab media and tries with Armenia and Artsakh with various programs.

The Armenian-Kuwaiti businessman said data is lacking in Arab countries on the Armenian genocide.

“Overall, we have done a poor job in terms of providing Armenian disorders in the Arab world. We have not been able to provide enough to the Arab people adequately. Many do not have a complete understanding of the Armenian genocide and others. Armenian disorders. And me to write articles and provide Armenian disorders and counter positions of Holocaust denial,” he said.

Kuyumjian also founded the Nerses Shnorhali Prize to inspire schoolchildren in Aleppo and Kuwait.
