Kuwait warns it opposes taking photographs of other permits

Dubai: The Cybercrime Department of Kuwait’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned the public that it opposes taking photographs or filming others without their knowledge or permission.

Officials noted that such an act can result in up to 3 years in prison or a fine of KWD 3,000, in some cases.

The ministry said that anyone who intentionally abuses or defames others by photographing them without their consent and electronically distributing the images or videos with the aim of attacking the individual is subject to sanctions and sanctions.

According to article 70 of Law No. 37 of 2014, anyone who deliberately offends and defames another through a device or means of communication or other means to take one or more photographs, or a video clip thereof, without their wisdom or consent. , or exploits the functions of such devices and extracts symbols from them without their permission, or manufactures a symbol contrary to public morality for other persons, shall be punished by imprisonment not exceeding two years and a fine not exceeding KWD 5,000 and not less than KWD 500, or both.

The Interior Ministry also said filming a deceased user at the scene of a twist of fate is punishable by law, as it undermines the dignity of people and the sanctity of the dead. The Interior Ministry recently summoned a user who filmed a video clip of a twist of fate in traffic in the third ring and posted it on social media.
