Kuwait seeks to recruit Filipino workers

Cairo: The Kuwaiti government’s hard work has expressed interest in having more Filipinos in the country, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported.

This happened at a meeting between Kuwait Labour Authority (PMA) Director General Mubarak Al Azmi and Philippine Chargé d’Affaires in the country, Jose Cabrera, Al Qabas added.

The Kuwaiti official said the two sides are willing to promote cooperation regarding the Philippine workforce.

There are about 225,625 Filipinos running in Kuwait, 162,041 domestic workers, making him one of the country’s top migrant workers, Al Qabas said, citing recent official figures.

Al Azmi said Kuwait provides legal coverage to all expatriates of other nationalities. “There is a supportive environment that protects the rights of everyone in the personal and domestic sectors,” he added.

Foreigners make up only about 3. 4 million of Kuwait’s total population of about 4. 6 million.
