Dubai: A Kuwaiti hospital conducted the first C-section operation in an inflamed country with a coronavirus in Kuwait, Al Qabas newspaper reported Saturday.
On her Twitter page, obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Maryam Al Mansoori broke the news by saying, “The first C-section operation performed on a coronavirus patient at ECMO. God bless your efforts and assistance, continue with confidence, Dr. Hanan Al Khatlan and Dr. Alia Tahu.
ECMO stands for membrane-compatible extracorporeal oxygenation. It is similar to the center-lung bypass device used in open center surgery. It pumps and oxygenates the patient’s blood out of the body, consistent with letting the center and lungs rest.
Also known as extracorporeal life support, ECMO is an extracorporeal strategy that provides long-term heart and respiratory assistance to others whose hearts and lungs cannot provide a sufficient amount of fuel exchange or infusion to sustain life.
