Cairo: Kuwait has asked its job-seeking citizens to join a new phase of employment as the country intensifies its efforts to supply paints for its citizens.
The Civil Service Commission, the national employment agency, announced that the new phase of task registration began on Friday and will continue until July 8.
The commission told the Al Rai newspaper was unprecedented in obtaining jobs on the basis of early registration.
Last October, Kuwait opened the registration of employment of citizens in public institutions.
Kuwait has recently intensified its efforts to create jobs for its citizens and has imposed restrictions on the employment of foreigners on the basis of a policy called “Kuwaitization”.
Foreigners account for nearly 3. 4 million of Kuwait’s total population of 4. 6 million.
The number of foreign staff in Kuwait fell by around 134,000 at the end of last year compared to 2020, according to recent official figures. The country’s total in the public and personal sectors stood at 1. 8 million at the end of December last year compared to 1. 9 million last year, according to figures from the Central Bureau of State Statistics.
The number of non-Kuwaiti workers fell to 1. 4 million, marking a low of about 134,000 through 2020.
Meanwhile, the number of Kuwaiti employees rose to 430,128 at the end of last year, an increase of 24,000 from 2020.
In recent months, calls have increased in Kuwait to further restrict the employment of foreigners amid allegations that migrants have tested the country’s infrastructure amid the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.
