Kuwait: 75,000 stranded expats lose their apartment permits

Cairo: The number of expats running in Kuwait who have not renovated their apartment to be abroad due to a coronavirus-related air suspension has increased to 75,000 people, a security official said Tuesday.

“The duty to this lies with them or their sponsors who have not renovated their apartment leaves on the online page of the Ministry of the Interior that gave them the possibility and took into account all legal and humanitarian aspects,” the anonymous official told the Kuwaiti newspaper. Al Rai.

“We are awaiting a resolution on visa issuance and air exit to locate answers and examine each case,” the official said.

Earlier this month, Kuwait suspended access from 31 countries, basically expatriate states of residence, which raised coronavirus problems.

According to the same official, the renewal prices for entry permits and access visas will be set out in an advance law amid reports that Kuwait plans to increase those fees.

Foreigners account for approximately 3. 4 million of Kuwait’s 4. 8 million inhabitants.

More and more calls have been made in Kuwait to correct the demographic imbalance, which has led several government agencies to disclose their plans to the number of foreign employees.

The Kuwaiti parliament has reportedly initiated proposals to reduce the number of expats in the country.
