Kindergarten jailed in Bahrain for child abuse

Cairo: Bahraini prosecutors have ordered the pre-trial detention of two kindergarten employees in connection with a physical attack on a child, local media reported, citing a senior official at the prosecutor’s workplace. The abuse captured on video.

The head of the Family and Children’s Prosecutor’s Office said the government won a report of an employee physically assaulting a kindergarten boarding girl. The attack was filmed by another employee.

Both suspects were arrested, confronted with evidence and admitted that their actions were investigated. Prosecutors ordered that they be held pending further questioning.

Authorities also ordered the kindergarten closed after discovering the facility had an expired license.

The prosecution asked the Child Protection Center to read about the victim’s condition, Al Watan newspaper reported. Investigations into the case are underway to refer the two suspects and any other convicted users to trial for thief, the newspaper added.

A video circulating on social media shows a boy slapping himself in the face and pulling his hair allegedly in a kindergarten, sparking outrage and calling for the attacker to be brought to justice.
