Salalah: The Dhofar government said on Tuesday that this year’s Khareef (monsoon) season officially began today, June 21.
According to the official calfinishar, Khareef starts in Dhofar on June 21 and continues until the end of August.
Oman’s meteorological office said Tuesday that rain clouds descended over the Dhofar Mountains and will soon dot the plains to inaugurate Khareef, attracting tourists from the region and beyond. The gentle drizzle and fog make Dhofar a summer getaway.
“The weather is calm and lovely here in July. With smart weather conditions, July is a smart time for this region of Oman,” weather25. com said on its website.
With the removal of all Covid-19 restrictions and regulations that allow for more spontaneous opportunities, a significant increase in the number of tourists in and out of the Sultanate of Oman is expected.
The popularity of the summer destination is reflected in the addition of other airlines operating flights during the season due to the increase in the number of travelers each year.
At the same time, the Dhofar governorate has arrangements that are in full swing to attract visitors and make the season a success.
The municipality’s efforts are visual in landscaping, flooring and road beautification works, in addition to daily service projects in the public toilet box, preparation of tourist sites in the Dhofar governorate and its public appliances and services to serve visitors.
Sheikh Jamal bin Abdullah al-Hinai, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion in Dhofar Governorate, said the Directorate had held an expanded assembly with several relevant government agencies and sector establishments in the governorate.
“The assembly reviewed the ministry’s efforts and coordinated issues similar to the provision of goods and foodArray by improving bank advertising and improving the power of the fuel station,” he said.
Last week, an assembly was held in the office of the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar to review the state of readiness of the corresponding departments of the Dhofar Governorate for the 2022 khareef season.
The assembly reviewed all the arrangements of the corresponding departments to serve visitors during the tourist season.
He discussed the improvement of the municipality in all areas, adding the preparation of data panels for inland roads and roads leading to Dhofar governorate via Thamrait Wilayat and the coastal road through Shaleem Wilayat and Al Halaniyat Islands.
Khareef is the only thing Salalah is known for. It is even better known for its ancient incense trade, as UNESCO has included several previous Dhofar settlements on its World Heritage List, correctly naming it as the “Land of Incense”.
