The US president’s special envoy for climate John Kerry has praised Bangladesh for its ambitious adaptation and mitigation initiatives to replace the climate, despite historically being a negligible emitter.
In a recent letter to Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, John Kerry also highlighted several moves through Biden’s management in the fight against climate change, the new Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
He thanked Bangladesh for its ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) launched last year ahead of COP26 in Glasgow and for new ambitions ahead of COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh in November this year.
He also trusted that the U. S. government would not be able to do so. U. S. Centers for the U. S. Locate tactics to enforce NDC objectives.
In the letter dated October 13, Special Envoy John Kerry also praised Bangladesh for pronouncing the cancellation of ten new coal-fired power plants last year.
He committed to U. S. goals. It added through the U. S. Department of Agriculture for Bangladesh on energy security, blank energy and energy access, and added through the Clean EDGE Asia initiative.
He discussed that the U. S. State Department’s Bureau of Energy Resources is not in the process of being able to do so. UU. se pleased to identify a new partnership between Bangladesh Grid Company and the Pacific Northwest Laboratory to operate and make plans to achieve some grid stability and reliability to aid increased use of renewable energy; and set a date to launch a new collaboration on carbon capture, use and storage and blue hydrogen progression with Petrobangla.
He also thanked Bangladesh for the commitment made at the Our Ocean convention in April 2022, adding harnessing the sustainability of marine resources as a component of the blue economy for inclusive progression and pronouncing the National Action Plan opposed to IUU fishing.
Earlier, on October 12, 2022, Foreign Minister Momen wrote a letter to Special Envoy John Kerry informing about Bangladesh’s resolve to sign up for the Global Methane Commitment, a US-led initiative. The U. S. and EU efforts to reduce global methane emissions by at least 30% on average from 2020 degrees to 2030.
To date, more than one hundred counties and a maximum of FVC countries have joined.
In the letter, Minister Momen reminded Kerry of the latter’s assurance to Bangladesh with essential technologies to mitigate any negative effects on productivity in the agricultural and livestock sectors to reduce methane emissions.
