Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Continues in London

LONDON. KAZINFORM Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tileuberdi, kicked off his stopover in the United Kingdom with an assembly at the headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

EBRD Minister and President Odile Renaud-Basso spoke about existing clients and expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Bank, stressing the strategic importance of a long-term partnership.

Welcoming the EBRD’s contribution to Kazakhstan’s progression over more than 30 years of relations, Minister Tileuberdi also highlighted ongoing and long-term allocations with the Bank’s participation, adding the allocation of the BAKAD structure and the gasification of TPP-2 in Almaty. “We are interested in expanding cooperation with the EBRD to develop transit and shipping potential, logistics routes, energy resources of choice and urban infrastructure,” the head of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry said.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister passed an official invitation from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the head of the EBRD to attend the Astana International Forum to be held in June 2023.

In addition, Minister Tileuberdi organised an interactive roundtable with UK corporations on the British Expertise International business platform. Participants on the occasion discussed the implementation of political and economic reforms in Kazakhstan, the transformation of the national economy, tactics for building Kazakhstan for foreign investment. , and promising spaces for industry and economic cooperation.

For part of the day, the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan held the UK Parliament and met with the Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Kazakhstan, Conservative Party MP Bob Stewart. They discussed tactics to accentuate parliamentary inter-cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UK, adding the group planned for Astana next year.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Kazakhstan was established in 2015 to promote inter-parliamentary dialogue. It is composed of members of either House of the British Parliament and political parties responsible for foreign policy, defence, intelligence and security, export control, economy, trade, science and education.

The APPG organizes events in the British Parliament to discuss Kazakhstan and bilateral cooperation.
