ASTANA. KAZINFORM “Kazakhstan’s electricity intake is expected to reach 27 GW by 2035,” Almasadam Satkaliyev, executive director of the National Welfare Foundation, Samruk Kazyna, told the government meeting.

To date, the available capacity of the country’s operational power plants exceeds 16,000 MW. It is mandatory to build by 2035 about 17 GW of new cellular and renewable base power sources, of which about 11 GW will be generated through facilities.

As previously reported, since the beginning of the year, electricity consumption has decreased by 1. 4% compared to the same time last year.

“As of October 16, the entry of electricity, adding exports, amounted to 86,900 million kwh. Energy input reached 86. 8 billion kWh, which is 1. 4 percent less than in the same era in 2021,” Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov said at the government meeting.

He added that the existing outlet is basically related to the detection of illicit mining activities.
