The assembly discussed the results of the activity of the interdepartmental execution groups in 2022, the progress of the presidency’s implementation on the opening of the UN Regional Centre on the SDGs for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty and approved the action plan on the implementation of the SDG in 2023.
Speaking, Alikhan Smailov said that the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals aims at people’s lives and applying the most productive foreign criteria in all spheres of the economy.
The Prime Minister recalled that in July 2022, at the High-Level Political Forum held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Kazakhstan made a presentation of the II Voluntary National Report (VNR) on the Sustainable Development Goals prepared with the participation of inter-ministerial groups, NGOs, qualified communities and foreign organizations. According to him, the document contains a comprehensive assessment of Kazakhstan’s progress over the past 3 years.
Foreign partners spoke in favour of the reforms introduced in Kazakhstan and announced their recommendations on the further progression of key areas of the socio-economic sphere.
At the end of the meeting, Alikhan Smailov noted that the recommendations expressed by the members of the Coordination Council will be used in the long-term work of the government and called on all relevant state agencies and organizations for timely and high-quality implementation of the 2023 Action Plan on the implementation of the SDGs.
