The executive secretary of the board of directors of Kano State Hospital, Dr. Mansur Nagoda, announced the dismissal of three members of Kabo General Hospital, accused of charging patients 12,000 naira for X-rays, as opposed to the approved hospital value of 2,000 naira.
In a statement issued on Monday, the public relations officer of the hospital’s board of directors, Samira Suleiman in Kano, said the board had also approved the suspension of the accountant, auditor and laboratory leader for promoting loose HIV control kits distributed to fitness centers through the state government.
Those affected by the decisions were also invited to report to the Council’s headquarters for disciplinary action.
Suleiman added that punitive measures should be taken immediately.
The staff were arrested during an unscheduled on-site executive supervision stopover with the team consisting of HMB Executive Secretary, KNCDC CEO Dr. Muhammad Abbas, and SAKA CEO Dr. Usman Bashir.
The team expressed their complete dissatisfaction with what they found on the pitch and considered it an act of sabotage.
“Three of the X-ray teams were stuck charging patients 12,000 naira for x-rays compared to the approved hospital value of 2,000 naira and with no documentation to provide as proof of payment, they left the premises to perform less than 10 x-rays. lightning per week even though the 2 X-ray batteries work,” said ES HMB.
He then approved the prompt dismissal of officials for excessive extortion of patients.
In addition, Dr. Nagoda explained that the hospital’s painting room was not in good condition, with no sheets on the beds and no district guard; saying that devices donated through a philanthropist 4 years ago to the facility, and others donated COVID-19, have been scrapped.
“This act will have to stop. This resolution we have taken has a deterrent effect on others. We have taken an oath, so we will respect this oath and shut down the fitness system,” he promised.
He then called on all officials to stand up, promising to let those who have skeletons in their closet know that executive oversight continues in full force, while noting that anyone arrested will be guilty of it.
