People who book Airbnb rentals in the U. S. may be able to rent from Airbnb. The U. S. and Canada will soon be the target of anti-party filtering technology.
The rental company is testing a tool designed to identify potential high-risk bookings and deter other people from hosting parties.
The variety formula will look at several factors, adding users’ review history, how long you use airbnb’s platform, how long it is, how far away the listing is, and weekend bookings are from the weekend. The anti-party generation is still in the testing phase, Airbnb said.
“The primary goal is to try to reduce the ability of bad actors to hold unauthorized parties that negatively affect our hosts, neighbors and the communities we serve,” Airbnb said Tuesday.
Based on prospective tenant profiles and Airbnb histories, the generation can block e-booking attempts. Guests who are unable to make reservations due to the anti-party projection will still be able to book a personal room, where the host is most likely to be. on site, or a hotel room through Airbnb.
Airbnb tested a similar variant of the formula in Australia starting last October. The company said this led to a 35% drop in unauthorized parties. Given its effectiveness, Airbnb is implementing Australia’s filtering formula and is looking for a similar fate in the US. USA and Canada.
Airbnb has tried to dissuade other people from renting parties for years.
In 2019, Airbnb tightened its policy to ban “open” parties and “chronic homes” following several incidents, adding a fatal shooting at an Airbnb rental home in California.
In 2020, the company enacted a global vacation ban following health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic. The policy has proven so effective (party reports have fallen 44 percent since August 2020) that Airbnb made it permanent in June.
In Pennsylvania, reports fell 59 percent year-over-year. They fell 68 percent in New Jersey, where a mansion attended by about 700 visitors in July 2020 sparked complaints from neighbors.
Airbnb also took steps during the holidays to prevent visitors from hosting New Year’s, Halloween and Fourth of July parties.
The company continued to collaborate with communities to complement their safety efforts and invest in its community helpline, which communicates with neighbors in rental buildings.
