NHS John Fitzgerald Kennedy retains the birthplace (1917) and early formative home of the 35th President of the United States. This modest space, the first space shared by the parents of the president, Joseph P. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. John, the time of nine children, spent his formative years in Brookline as his circle of relatives began to gain national prominence. In 1966, Mrs. Kennedy returned to 83 Beals Street to commemorate her son’s life, restoring the birthplace to reminiscence of its 1917 appearance. Brookline’s historic home, collections, and nearby network provide an opportunity to explore the early influences that shaped John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s character and ambitions.
NHS John Fitzgerald Kennedy is located just outside Coolidge Corner at 83 Beals Street in Brookline, Massachusetts. The site is a 1/2 mile walk from the T Coolidge Corner stop (Green Line, C-Cleveland Circle). Street parking on Beals Street can be parked for up to two (2) hours.
