Sources from the Islamic Waqf, which administers the Temple Mount, told TPS on Monday that marriage contracts will now be processed at Al Aqsa Mosque instead of a Sharia court in East Jerusalem.
The purpose is the Muslim presence on the Temple Mount by attracting Muslim citizens to the mosque.
It was also reported that there has been a significant increase in the number of Muslim delegations visiting Jerusalem’s holy site after the visits ended the coronavirus pandemic.
Waqf officials estimate that 700 Muslims from Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and South Africa stop at Temple Mount Square every day.

Several of those tourists, mainly from Turkey, were involved in the violence on the Temple Mount, as TPS reported in the past based on law enforcement sources.
Islamic decisions (fatwas) differ on “jihadist tourism. “
Some fatwas forbid Muslims to visit the Temple Mount as tourists, as this legitimizes the “Israeli occupation” of the holy site. These decisions tend to be made through more extreme Muslim figures.
Other more moderate fatwas allow Muslims to visit Al Aqsa Mosque as tourists on the basis of freedom of religion.
The Palestinian Authority has in the past called on Muslims to coordinate their visits with Ramallah.
