Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Wednesday that Japan will avoid pre-arrival coronavirus testing for vaccinated travelers starting Sept. 7, a step that brings Japan’s border policy closer to that of other primary economies.
Japan will also increase arrival limits from the existing 20,000 once airports have the staff and infrastructure to cope with the increase in arrivals. Kishida did not propose a new express arrivals limit.
