Tokyo showed on Sunday 292 additional coronavirus infections, below record increases in recent days, while new cases reported in Japan exceeded 1,000 for the fifth consecutive day.
Japan has noticed a resurgence of the virus since the central government lifted the state of emergency in late May, and Tokyo and some other prefectures were forced to re-impose restrictions on certain corporations to prevent the additional spread of infections.
