As fears of a new wave of coronavirus infections mount, the Japanese government spokesman said Wednesday that Kishida’s management will not impose restrictions on the movement of others if the severity of the virus causing the wave exceeds omicron variants.

“Our fundamental position is that we will continue with our social and economic activities and not limit people’s behavior, while taking measures to prevent the spread of the virus,” Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told a news conference.
