Japan asks foreign visitors to wear masks at Abe’s state funeral

Japan will ask foreign visitors attending the state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe next week to wear protective masks to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the government spokesman said on Thursday.

“We will call on foreign dignitaries and participants to wear masks and take infection prevention measures, such as the use of disinfectant, on the day of the state funeral,” Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told a news conference.
