Italy’s third region will put curfew into force as coronavirus cases in Rome increase

The Italian region of Lazio, which includes the capital Rome, is the third in the country to institute a curfew on Wednesday, on a face that involves a dramatic increase in coronavirus cases.

The new decree came after Italy reported on Wednesday 15,199 new coronavirus infections, its record recorded in one day, as Europe struggles to see an increase in coronavirus cases.

Signed Wednesday night through Health Minister Roberto Speranza and Lazio President Nicola Zingaretti, the measure foresees an evening curfew from 11 p. m. at five o’clock in the morning, from Friday night for an era of 30 days.

On Tuesday, the northern region of Lombardy, which includes Milan’s monetary center, and southern Campania announced curfews at night to begin this weekend.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has said he has no other national blockade like the one that began in March and lasted more than two months, but said he may not rule out more limited blockades.

Recently, the government imposed new regulations across the country, adding a ban on amateur travel and sports, and restricting bars and restaurants to table service after 6 p. m.

Nearly 37,000 more people have been killed by Covid-19 in Italy since the virus was first killed last February.
