MILAN (Reuters) – Italy’s communications watchdog has fined Alphabet Inc’s YouTube and Amazon’s Twitch for allegedly violating rules banning gambling advertising in the country.
YouTube and Twitch were fined €2. 25 million and €900,000 respectively, AGCOM said, adding that it had ordered the removal of more than 20,000 online videos selling types of gambling in addition to sports betting.
According to AGCOM, the two streaming services had established advertising partnerships with videographers who posted the content on their online platforms.
The two corporations did not receive comment from the company.
