PM Modi, who reached Kuwait on Saturday for a two-day visit, became the first Indian PM to visit the Gulf nation in 43 years.
Earlier, PM Modi had received honours from Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain. In November, Guyana and Dominica conferred their top awards on Prime Minister Modi for his contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and his exceptional contributions to the global community and efforts in strengthening bilateral ties with the two Caribbean nations.
The same month, Nigeria bestowed its national honor – Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger – on Prime Minister Modi for his statesmanship and contribution to the progress of bilateral relations, making him the second foreign dignitary to earn this distinction.
Prime Minister Modi received a ceremonial welcome and guard of honor at the Bayan Palace ahead of his talks with Kuwait’s top leaders. Prime Minister Modi, who is visiting Kuwait at the invitation of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, held in-depth talks with the Emir, Crown Prince Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah and his Kuwaiti counterpart .
