The first founding signatories of the historic Abraham Accords celebrate the anniversary of the normalization agreement this week with a plethora of events.
Bahrain’s former ambassador to the United States, Houda Nonoo (retired), who is Jewish, said that, as citizens of the region, “we will have to celebrate milestones between our nations. Through our support, along with the gentle guidance that our leaders and their diplomatic envoys, we can see how this dating is achieving its true potential.
“If last year is any indication, dating between Bahrain and Israel is and will continue to flourish,” Nonoo predicted.
Although no official announcement has been made, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who represented his country at the signing of the document at the White House on September 15, 2020, will travel to Israel this week, according to The Circuit.
After his three-hour flight from Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s most sensible diplomat is expected to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, President Isaac Herzog and former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as other senior Israeli officials.
His stopover in Israel followed last week through a delegation of Emirati bankers, oil investors and tech entrepreneurs. Israel’s Tamar offshore fuel field.
During the two-day visit, Israeli and Emirati business leaders signed a series of public agreements between Israel and the UAE that now enters its third year.
The 3 months included a cooperation agreement between Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and Israel’s Central Start-Up Nation; an agreement to develop cybersecurity wisdom signed through the ADGM Academy and the Israeli organization Avnon Group Middle East; and a memorandum of understanding on the confidentiality of knowledge signed through the regulatory offices of Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
The September 6 forum was organized by ADGM Chairman Ahmed Jasim Al Za’abi in collaboration with the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
“The Abraham Accords opened up wonderful opportunities for our region. We have shifted the discussion from defense and security to innovation and collaboration,” said Avi Hasson, CEO of Start-Up Nation Central.
“As we take a look at the third year of this relationship, we know that industry and investment between Israel and the Abraham Accord countries will double in 2023 and that innovation and generation will continue to play a vital role in this regard as more and more Israeli corporations open offices in the countries of the Agreements and rent and exercise locally generated talent, addressing the challenge of human capital and contributing to the progression of the innovation ecosystem in those countries,” he added.
