U. S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and foreign ministers from the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to point to the historic AbrahamIc Agreement, the first Arab-Israeli peace in 26 years.
“We are here this afternoon to replace the course of history. After decades of department and conflict, we are marking the dawn of a new Middle East,” Trump said, moments before the agreement signed on the South White House gardens.
The United Arab Emirates represented through Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed and Bahrain through Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani.
The Arab Agreement, necessarily bilateral agreements with Israel, does mention the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“Thanks to the wonderful courage of the leaders of those three countries, we are taking a big step towards a long period in which other people of all faiths and backgrounds live in combination in peace and prosperity,” Trump said.
The President said these were the only two peace agreements between Israel and the Arab states for more than a quarter of a century.
Egypt was the first Arab state to sign a peace agreement with Israel in 1979.
Jordon signed a peace pact in 1994.
“Now he’s got two in a month of bachelors and there’s more to follow,” Trump said.
Under the agreements, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain will identify embassies, exchange ambassadors, cooperate and work with Israel in various sectors, adding tourism, trade, fitness and security.
“They are friends. The Abrahamic Accords also open the door for Muslims around the world to Israel’s historic sites and pray peacefully at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site in Islam,” Trump said, among applause and congratulations from more than two hundred guests.
Together, these agreements will serve a comprehensive peace across the region, Trump said.
Netanyahu described the agreement as an “axis of history,” announcing a new dawn.
“For thousands of years, the other Jewish people have prayed for peace. For decades, the Jewish state has prayed for peace and that’s why we are filled with such deep gratitude,” he said.
“You’ve heard the president say he’s already covered up more and more countries. It was a few years ago. But with determination, determination, a new look at how peace is achieved, this is achieved,” Netanyahu said. .
Netanyahu said Israel is willing to invest in a long period of prosperity and peace.
“We have already begun to cooperate in the fight against coronavirus and I am sure that in combination we can respond to many of the disorders that afflict our region and beyond,” he said.
Foreign Minister Zayed said the United Arab Emirates is witnessing a replacement in the Middle East, a replacement for that hope for the world.
“Today we are witnessing a new trend that will create a broader path for the Middle East,” he said.
This peace agreement, which is a historic achievement for the United States of America, the State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates, will continue to have a positive effect on, as we believe that its effect will be reflected in everyone in the region, all distinct characteristics of peace would mean destruction, poverty and human suffering,” he said.
“This new vision, which is beginning to take shape as we gather today for the long term of the region out of love, younger power is not a slogan we raise for political purposes. Everyone is looking ahead to create a rich and safe long-term,” the minister said.
Foreign Minister Zayani said peace between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel is a step towards genuine and lasting security and prosperity.
“For too long, the Middle East has been delayed due to clashes and mistrust, leading to uncontrolled destruction and thwarted the prospects of generations of our most productive and bright young people. Now I’m convinced we have a chance to replace that. “bahrain’s minister said.
Shortly after the signing, the White House, in a statement, said the agreement would achieve peace in the region, giving Muslims greater access to the Al Aqsa mosque.
This will counter extremists who use the false narrative that the Al Aqsa mosque is under attack and that Muslims pray in this sacred place, he said.
President Trump helped negotiate the historic agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel to normalize in August. Last week, Trump announced that Bahrain had also reached an agreement with Israel to normalize Array.
The agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Israel represented a significant advance in diplomacy between the two countries, as Trump’s leadership sought to facilitate cooperation between Arab nations and Israel.
Trump, who is re-elected in the November 3 presidential election opposed to his Democratic rival Joe Biden, expects the two primary diplomatic agreements to help him in the election.
