JERUSALEM (AP) – Israel closed deep-sea fishing in the Gaza Strip on Sunday after a night of cross-border clashes with Palestinian militants, the greatest escalation of hostilities in recent months.
Palestinian militants in Gaza fired two rockets at southern Israel after Israel attacked sites belonging to militant leaders on Hamas territory.
The army said the Iron Dome air defense formula intercepted the two rockets that Gaza militants had introduced in southern Israel, but police said rocket rain broke a space in Sderot city and paramedics treated a 58-year-old man for minor injuries caused.through the explosion of glass.

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz ordered the closure of the fishing domain off Gaza until more occurs in reaction to the rocket fire.
After a Sunday assembly with senior army officials, Gantz said in a statement that Israel “will respond vigorously to any violation of sovereignty until calm is restored in the south.Sderot is not calm, nor is Gaza.”
Israel and Egypt have maintained a blockade of the Gaza Strip since Hamas seized force in an armed coup in 2007. Israel has fought 3 wars with Hamas in the Gaza Strip in the following years.
Both sides have largely maintained a casual truce and fighting has ceased almost completely since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
