JERUSALEM
By order, Israel is sending South Koreans on special flights due to considerations over the deadly coronavirus, Israeli media reported on Monday.
The airport government said as many as 622 South Koreans had left the country — mostly tourists — since Sunday night, with between 800 and 900 remaining in the country.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered all South Koreans in Israel to be expelled from the country after the South Korean government said some 29 tourists returning from Israel and Palestine were carrying the deadly coronavirus.
Nearly two hundred Israeli academics who met with the people in question were placed in home quarantine.
About 200 foreigners were denied access to Israel after leaving South Korea, The Times of Israel reported Saturday.
Israel’s Health Ministry reported its first case of coronavirus on Friday.
The deadly coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, first appeared in Wuhan, China.
The death toll has reached 2,362, most of them in China.
There are more than 75,000 cases shown.
