Israel’s Health Ministry announced Friday that the Jewish state will require foreign nationals visiting China to test negative for COVID-19 before entering the country.
The announcement follows a requirement imposed by the United States and several other countries, due to the emerging rate of COVID-19 infections in China.
Recently, Israeli citizens must present a negative COVID-19 test result, or any test result, to leave or enter the Jewish state.
Nearly 250 million more people in China tested positive for the virus in the first 20 days of December.
Voluntary stations for Israelis and foreign nationals will also be established, said newly installed Health Minister Aryeh Deri.
Earlier this week, Italy announced mandatory COVID-19 for foreign arrivals from China. Spain joined the effort on Friday, requiring a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of a full vaccination against the deadly virus.
Japan, India, Taiwan and South Korea have imposed restrictions.
