The Israeli army fired missiles monday at spaces south of Syria’s capital, Damascus, belonging to unwavering forces under Bashar al-Assad’s regime, state media reported.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said the attack targeted from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights opposed some army sites, adding that the country’s air defenses had shot down most of the missiles before they reached their targets.
The airstrikes killed two Syrian infantrymen and wounded seven others and damaged property, SANA said.
Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights since the 1967 Middle East War.
Since the start of the Syrian crisis in 2011, Israel has carried out many airstrikes opposed to targets in Syria, adding to Assad’s regime army sites and Iran-backed groups.
Syria has been embroiled in a fierce civil war since early 2011, when the Assad regime fiercely suppressed pro-democracy protests.
Since then, thousands of people have been killed and more than 10 million displaced, according to UN officials.
