The Israeli government announced Saturday that it would impose a three-week national blockade in an effort to stop one of the world’s rates of new coronavirus infection after an increase in the number of cases.
The closing order, to be passed on Friday, makes Israel the first evolved economy to take such a drastic step to stem a “second wave” of viral infections.
First, Israel was widely praised for reducing the spread of Covid-19 by applying a strict blockade in March, but now is Bahrain’s time for the world’s highest coronavirus infection rate, according to an AFP count.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the government’s resolution in a televised statement, the closet had agreed “a strict (closing) plan for 3 weeks, with the option of it being extended. “
“Our purpose is to avoid the increase, the contagion”, which has crossed the threshold of 4,000 new constant instances per day, he added.
Closing is expected to begin Friday at 11:00 GMT, just a few hours before the Jewish New Year begins and the primary celebrations, which also come with the day of the Atonement and Sucot.
The announcement comes despite the refusal of a component of the government’s ultra-Orthodox contingent to impose a blockade during the holidays.
According to the closing guidelines, which have not yet been finalized, indoor meetings would be limited to 10 other people and outdoor meetings to 20, so prayers in synagogues would be seriously affected.
Restaurants deserve to be closed to on-site meals and will be limited to 500 meters (1,650 feet) from the house.
“I know these measures will affect us all,” Netanyahu said.
“It’s not the holiday season we’re used to, in fact, we probably couldn’t celebrate with our extended families. “
– ‘Injustice and contempt’ –
Earlier on Sunday, Housing Minister Yaakov Litzman of the Ultra-Orthodox Party of Unified Tor Judaism resigned in protest at the time of closure, which said an affront to Israel’s Jews.
“This is an injustice and contempt for thousands of citizens, ultra-Orthodox, devoted and traditional,” who would seek to pray in synagogues and have a circle of family meals,” Litzman said.
Despite early successes in the fight against the virus, protests broke out as opposed to Netanyahu and government management of the pandemic.
Hundreds of protesters piled up on Sunday to call for Netanyahu’s resignation for his alleged corruption crimes and his inability to deal with the Covid-19 crisis.
They blocked roads leading to Ben Gurion Airport, from where Netanyahu owed the United States to witness the signing of agreements to normalize relations with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
Israelis in government over construction in several cases have cited the immediate reopening of business, and some argue that inadequate monetary measures have forced others to return to paintings prematurely.
Others said the reopening of schools and the country’s increased detection capacity had the highest number of cases.
Israel, with a population of nine million, recorded 155,604 cases of Covid-1nine, adding 1. 11nine deaths.
