Eight Israeli Bedouin men have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the raid on an Israeli army base that resulted in the theft of tens of thousands of bullets, the Shin Bet internal security service revealed on Tuesday.
In late October, Israeli media reported that 30,000 bullets had been stolen from the Sde Teiman military base in southern Israel.
The Shin Bet named those who stormed the base as Harun al-Sana, Mamun al-Sana, Muhammad al-Sana, and Hamed al-Sana. According to the security service, they broke through the fence of the base and stole dozens of boxes of ammunition from an army bunker.
Hamed al-Sana and the user in question, Abdul Karim al-Sanae, were also involved in the raid on the base.
Two suspects from the same Tarabin a-Sana network, Abdul Karim al-Sanae and Tarek al-Sanae, were arrested for participating in selling ammunition to parties.
The last two suspects arrested, Asmat Abu Alyon and Udai Abu Sarihan, citizens of Tel Sheva, bought the ammunition from the other suspects. According to the Shin Bet, they admitted this investigation and handed over some of the stolen ammunition to security forces. .
The investigation also revealed that all those arrested had committed other crimes related to weapons and thieves. The Southern District Attorney’s Office is expected to register the indictments in the coming days.
Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid met with Shin Bet leader Ronan Bar to congratulate the team for stopping the suspected thieves. Lapid said the capture would prevent further intrusions into the bases in the long term and prevent Israeli weapons from falling into the hands of terrorists. and criminal organizations.
