Iskandar Waterfront unit and Chinese company MCC Singapore co-develop Skudai’s allocation with 8 billion RMV GDV

PETALING JAYA: Iskandar Waterfront Holdings subsidiary Sdn Bhd (IWH), Danga Heights Development (DHD) and MCC Singapore, a subsidiary of Fortune Global 500 Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd, have formed a joint venture to jointly develop 148 acres (60ha) of advertising land in Skudai, Johor.

This allocation is expected to evolve over the next 10 years and is expected to generate a gross progression (GDV) of 8 billion ringgit.The assignment is one of the largest of its kind to be announced from the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.It is also one of the largest foreign direct investment (EDDs) in Iskandar, Malaysia after the Covid-19 outbreak, and is sure to inject renewed trust and inspire new investment in Johor’s genuine real estate industry.

In the first phase, DHD and MCC Singapore will jointly expand a mixed-use allocation on a 38-acre (15-hectare) site. It has an estimated GDV of RM 2.88 billion and the structure is expected to start in early 2021.

A virtual rite was held to signal the sale of land in Malaysia, Singapore and China through a videoconference, and the cross-border occasion was attended by Zhu Jianguo, executive director of mcC’s Central Building and Construction Research Institute and president of MCC Singapore in Beijing, China, as well as Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad in Johor.

During the virtual signing ceremony, IWH Director Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman and MCC Singapore CEO Tan Zhiyong signed the agreements in Johor and Singapore, respectively, while viewing a distribution from other countries.IWH Executive Vice President Tan Sri Lim Kang Hoo and the group’s executive director were also present.Lim Chen Herng.

Since 2010, MCC Singapore has evolved and controlled 15 residential projects in Singapore.Lately he is creating JKT Living Star, a 3,648-unit condominium with an adjacent advertisement in Jakarta; and Sky Villa, a high-end 256-unit condominium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The joint venture marks the company’s first major foray into Malaysia’s real estate sector.
