Irish PM agrees minister’s resignation for violating COVID-19

DUBLIN – The prime minister of Ireland on Friday accepted the resignation of Agriculture Minister Dara Calleary after his participation in a social occasion that could have violated COVID-19 regulations provoked a wave of public anger.

“Your participation on this occasion was an error of judgment on your part. I have accepted your resignation,” Prime Minister Micheel Martin said in a statement.

“People across the country have made very complicated non-public sacrifices in their circle of family lives and businesses to comply with COVID regulations. This occasion has not been the way he did. (Report through Padraic Halpin; Edited through Alison Williams)
