The most recent count raises the total number of cases shown in Iraq to 164,277, 5,641 deaths, according to the ministry.
The new coronavirus has brought Iraq’s fragile economy to its knees and hit hospitals that have already spread for decades of fighting and lack of investment.
Iraq reopened advertising flights in late July after a four-month blackout. Earlier that month, it lifted additional restrictions and reopened grocery shopping and stores.
But the number of virus cases shown had increased to Thursday’s record count.
