OPEC oil manufacturer Iraq has allocated 11 square kilometers (11 square kilometers) to the giant Nebras project, which is expected to be the world’s fourth-largest petrochemical complex, Aliqitisad News and other Iraqi publications reported.
Basra Governor Asaad Al-Idani on Wednesday approved the site of the southern oil hub, signaling that Baghdad is nonetheless pressing ahead with the 1. 8 million-tonne-a-year petrochemical task after a long delay.
Shell owns 49% of Nibras and owns the rest through the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. It was signed in 2015 but stalled due to liquidity shortages and internal conflicts.
