Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani on Sunday rejected a statement through the European troika (France, UK and Germany) and the US on Iran’s non-violent nuclear activities at the Fordow facility.
He said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported 60% enrichment at Fordow on November 17, 2022.
Kanaani added that all modes of enrichment were specified in the knowledge questionnaire, the Foreign Ministry reported.
It also indicated that in the January 2023 inspection, no new measures were taken that contradicted the questionnaire of 17 November 2022 and therefore required reporting to the IAEA.
In their Feb. 3 statement, the French, German, British and U. S. governments claimed that the “unnotified change” in the configuration of some of the centrifuges at Iran’s Fordow nuclear site was “inconsistent” with Tehran’s obligations under its NPT.
Last week, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization said an IAEA inspector who came to an erroneous conclusion about the Fordow nuclear facility learned his mistake after misreporting to the U. N. nuclear agency.
He also deplored the IAEA’s positions and an erroneous report on operations at Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility.
“We provide explanations immediately, the video of which is available and can be submitted. These explanations were published on the same day and the inspector of the (International Atomic Energy Agency) realized his mistake,” the Iranian official said.
