U. S. efforts to re-impose UN sanctions on Iran will have “dangerous consequences,” Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said Thursday in a letter to the United Nations, Reuters reported.

Zarif added that the United States need not provoke the reimposition of UN sanctions against Iran.

The risk of consequences comes a day after U. S. President Donald Trump ordered his secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, to trigger the resumption of UN sanctions on the Security Council on Thursday.

As a component of this process, the United States would argue before the United Nations that Iran has not fulfilled its obligations under the 2015 nuclear program agreement.

The threats also occur on the same day iran unveiled its new ballistic and cruise missiles, in an escalation of tensions between the two nations.

U. S. sanctions opposing Iran have reduced Iran’s oil exports over the following year, Iran has done its best to circumvent sanctions in order to continue generating much-needed oil revenues.

Iran said that as long as U. S. sanctions opposed to Iran are maintained, there may be no discussions about its nuclear or missile programs.
