Iran-Iraq Cooperation to Create Regional Security: Ghalibaf

He made the remarks at a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in Tehran on Tuesday night.

Ghalibaf expressed hope that the statements of the Iraqi prime minister and his delegation in Tehran will be effective in expanding relations between the new Iraqi government and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran and Iraq have common ground in the religious, economic and cultural fields, he said, adding that the two countries have great development prospects in all fields.

Ghalibaf stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary relations between Tehran and Baghdad and expressed hope that the new Iraqi government, in cooperation with the Iranian parliament, will expand its bilateral relations in the region.

Al-Sudani, for his part, said the new Iraqi emphasizes continued cooperation with Iran in the field of counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics and strengthening stability between Tehran and Baghdad.

He reiterated that his country will allow Iran’s security to be threatened from Iraqi soil.

During the meeting, the resumption of the Iran-Iraq joint economic commission also stood out between the two sides.
