SBS’s “Inkigayo” has banned public cheers due to the resurgence of COVID-19 in South Korea.
On August 5, the music screen announced on its official online page that due to recent adjustments to COVID-19 protection rules, audience members of the live studio will no longer be able to shout or applaud loudly during filming.
After more than two years of liveless filming due to COVID-19, “Inkigayo” returned to the studios on May 15 of this year.

Hello. This is the “Inkigayo” team.
According to the evolution of the prevention commands [COVID-19], we tell you that it is no longer allowed to shout aloud the pre-recording or filming of the live broadcast of “Inkigayo”.
The resolution to ban loud applause was taken after a long debate, for the protection of the performers and the audience on set, so we ask for your understanding. We expect you to explain your emotions with passionate applause rather than cheers.
