The number of active Covid-19 cases in India rose to 1,828 on Monday, while one death was recorded in Kerala, a state where the JN. 1 subvariant of Covid was recently detected, the Union Health Ministry reported.
The number of people cured of the infection rose to 4. 46 crore rupees (4,44,69,931). The national recovery rate is estimated at 98. 81 percent, the Health Ministry said.
So far, another 5,33,317 people have died from Covid-19 and the case fatality rate stands at 1. 19 percent.
According to the ministry’s website, 220. 67 million rupees of Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country.
On Sunday, India recorded 335 new Covid-19 infections and the number of active cases rose to 1,701, the Health Ministry said.
Five deaths have been reported: four in Kerala and one in Uttar Pradesh, according to Health Ministry data. COVID JN. 1 SUBVARIANT IN KERALA
A case of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 has been detected in a 79-year-old woman from Kerala as part of an ongoing routine surveillance activity of the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG), a senior official from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Saturday (December 16).
The case was detected in a positive RT-PCR pattern in Karakulam, Thiruvananthapuram district, southern state, on Dec. 8, said Dr. Rajiv Bahl, director general of the ICMR.
