India’s COVID-19 fatality rate drops to 2.43% from 3.36% on June 17: Health Ministry

India’s COVID-19 fatality rate has dropped significantly to 2.43 percent from 3.36 percent on June 17 due to effective clinical management of coronavirus cases, the Centre said on Tuesday, asserting the country has handled the pandemic “relatively well”.

Thirty EU states and territories have a decrease in positivity in COVID-19 than the national average of 8.07%, Rajesh Bhushan, head of special service at the EU Ministry of Health, said at a press conference.

“19 states and UT conduct more than 140 tests consistent with the day consistent with millions of inhabitants. It is not enough to test, they will have to be done at a point of 140 tests consistent with the day consistent with millions for the positivity rate to decrease and first reduce to 10%, then continue with the testing procedure so that the positivity rate decreases to more than 5% or less,” he said.

“Therefore, it is the ultimate purpose of this test point and decrease positivity to 5% eventually or even decrease it,” he said.

In India, the COVID-19 deaths per million population stand at 20.4 per million which is amongst lowest in the world, Bhushan said.

“There are several countries where the deaths per million is 21 times or 33 times higher than in India. The global average stands at 77 deaths per million population,” he said.

“So far, the nation has managed COVID-19 relatively well. The Government of India is cooperating with all states and UTs. All decisions are being taken based on science and evidence-based inputs and in consultation with domain knowledge experts,” Bhushan said.

It also shared a chart indicating that the COVID-19 case case has an increase of 3.36% on June 17 to 2.43% now.

It stated that the significant minimises the rate of jurisprudence due to the effective management of clinical cases.
