Indian capital plans to ramp up COVID-19 testing and inspire mask wearing after emerging cases

The National Capital Territory of New Delhi recorded three hundred new cases in one day, the local government said on Wednesday, since August last year, according to local media.

“The positivity rate exceeds 10% in Delhi, but the number of tests is low, so there is no explanation for why to panic. We have issued a notice asking other people to wear masks if they have flu-like symptoms and in hospitals,” Saurabh Bhardwaj, Delhi’s fitness minister, told reporters after an emergency local government assembly to discuss the cases.

India has recorded more than 44 million cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began three years ago, the highest point after the United States.
