New Delhi: The Centre has more comfortable COVID-19 rules for foreign travellers by removing RT-PCR testing requirements from a random subset of 2% of visitors, according to a statement released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.
The resolution was based on the current COVID-19 scenario and significant achievements made in immunization policy worldwide, the ministry said.
“The new rules will come into force from 0,000 hours on July 20. The previous needs for RT-PCR based on a random subset of 2% of foreign travellers to India are now removed.
“However, the previous recommendations regarding precautionary measures to be followed in the context of COVID-19 through airlines and foreign travelers will continue to apply,” the ministry added.
The ministry stated that it continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 scenario.
According to the new rules for foreign arrivals, all travelers should preferably be fully vaccinated according to the number one COVID-19 vaccination schedule approved in their home country.
“Any passenger with COVID-19 symptoms traveling will be required to be remote according to popular protocol, i. e. such passenger will be required to wear a mask, remote and separate from other passengers on flight/trip and then transferred to an isolation facility for follow-up. -up treatment,” reads the rules issued through the ministry.
Among other things, upon arrival, all passengers must be thermally screened through the fitness officers provided at the port of entry.
“Passengers deemed symptomatic deserve to be isolated without delay, taken to a designated medical facility in accordance with fitness protocol,” he said.
