Evidence of Brain Damage Found Even Months After Acute Covid Infection
Markers of brain damage progressed from COVID-19 have been discovered in patients even months after infection and even though blood tests measuring inflammation yielded overall results, new studies show.
Researchers from British universities have explained that in the acute phase of viral infection, when symptoms spread rapidly, key inflammatory proteins and markers of brain damage are produced. They analysed more than 800 samples from hospitalised patients across England and Wales. Surprisingly, even months after the hospital researchers say, there is strong evidence that biomarkers of brain damage evolved due to COVID-19.
